Google AdSense Policy

All publishers must follow these rules carefully. If you break any of these rules without Google’s permission, we may stop showing ads on your site or even deactivate your AdSense account. If your account is deactivated, you won’t be able to join the AdSense program again.

Since policies can change anytime, please check for updates regularly. You are responsible for staying informed and following the latest rules. Any exceptions to these rules require Google’s approval.

Invalid Clicks and Impressions

You are not allowed to click on your own ads or use tricks to increase clicks or impressions artificially, including manual methods.

Encouraging Clicks or Views (Non-Rewarded Inventory)

You must not ask others to click or view your ads, nor use misleading tactics to get clicks or views. This includes offering rewards, promising donations for clicks, or placing ads next to images in a way that tricks users.

Content Policies

Do not place AdSense ads on pages with content that violates Google’s content guidelines. Violating this rule can lead to your account being suspended or terminated.

You can place ads on pages with limited or restricted content, but such pages may receive fewer ads.

Abusive Experiences

Ads cannot appear on sites with harmful or abusive experiences. Check Google’s abusive experiences guidelines for details.

Authorized Inventory (ads.txt)

If you use ads.txt on your domain, ensure your site lists you as an authorized seller. Refer to Google’s ads.txt guidance for more information.

Traffic Sources

Do not place ads on pages that get traffic from sources like paid-to-click programs, spam emails, or unwanted software. If you use online advertising, ensure your site follows Google’s traffic source rules.

Ad Behavior

You can customize AdSense ad code, but only if those changes don’t inflate performance or harm advertisers. Review Google’s ad behavior guidelines for details.

Ad Placement

Experimenting with ad placement and formats is encouraged, but avoid placing ads in inappropriate locations such as pop-ups, emails, or software. Follow the policies specific to each AdSense product you use.

Site Behavior

Websites showing ads should be user-friendly and easy to navigate. They must not:

  • Change user settings without consent
  • Redirect users to unwanted pages
  • Start downloads automatically
  • Contain malware or intrusive pop-ups

Deceptive Navigation

Do not use tricks to make ads look like menus, navigation links, or download buttons. Publishers are responsible for ensuring ad placements are clear and not misleading. Examples of prohibited practices include:

  • Fake claims about streaming or downloadable content
  • Links to nonexistent or irrelevant content
  • Redirecting users to unrelated or misleading pages

Technical Requirements

To provide a good user experience, sites displaying Google ads must meet technical specifications. Non-compliance may lead to ads being restricted.

Format Requirements

Some WebView technologies are not compatible with AdSense and AdX display ads. To use these ads in apps, developers must use supported platforms:

  • Android: Follow Google’s guidelines.
  • iOS: Use SFSafariViewController for iOS 9 and iOS 10.

Google AdMob and AdX ads can be shown in apps alongside WebView content, provided the app complies with Google’s rules.
